Karl Krueger

Karl W. Krueger, 80, of Fond du Lac, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at St. Agnes Hospital. Karl was born on November 7, 1943 in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin to Milton and Odelia (Wondra) Krueger. Karl attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and Goodrich High School. He married Mary Ellen Huebschman on June 13, 1964 at St. Joseph Church in Fond Du Lac. Karl retired after 40 dedicated years of employment at a local manufacturer. He had a love of cars and in his younger years owned a custom ’56 and ’57 Chevy, which he was very proud of. He always said his ’56 was for “show” and ’57 for “go”. He also owned a Corvette and a few Mustangs. Karl was a member of the first Rev Masters Car Club and Machines Unlimited Car Club. He shared the love of golf with Mary and they would travel throughout Wisconsin every summer golfing many different courses. They also (as Mary puts it) dragged their clubs to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Florida to golf while on vacation. Karl enjoyed cards, especially Sheepshead. His favorite saying was “Less talking and more card playing.” His lawn was his pride and joy. He would receive numerous compliments from passerby on how well kept and nice his lawn always was. Karl loved his Wisconsin sports teams and could not wait for football season to start. Badger basketball was another favorite of his. He was very “fussy” and particular as to his clothes and how his hair was combed. Oldies, but goodies were his favorite genre of music. Karl is survived by his wife Mary, children: Julie (Steve) Gundlach, Jeffrey (partner Jennifer Benning) Krueger, Jill (Brian) Haag, Jenny (Joe) Vechart, Grandchildren: Jason Gundlach, Benjamin (partner Melanie Pemsel) Gundlach, Katrina (Ken Bjorn) Gundlach-Bjorn, Theodore (partner Christina Gomez) Gundlach, Ashley Hoffman – Andrus, Marissa Vechart, and Olivia Vechart, step-grandchildren: Justin Haag and Jordan Haag, great-grandchildren: Walker, Judd, and Sloane Andrus. He is further survived by his brother Keith (Shirley) Krueger, sisters-in-law Connie Huebschman, Nancy (Joe) Murphy, and Kathy Krueger, many nieces and nephews and his fur buddy Jordy. Karl was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ken Krueger, sister Karen Johnson, father-in-law, and mother-in-law Arlin and Ethel Huebschman, brothers-in-law Jerry Johnson, Elroy Huebschman, David Huebschman, Anthony Schneider, and sisters-in-law Marlene (Sue) Schneider, and Rita Huebschman. VISITATION: The family will greet friends and relatives from 10 AM -12 NOON, on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Holy Family Church 271 4th Street Way in Fond du Lac. SERVICE: A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 following the visitation at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation are appreciated.
