Marlow H. Stahmann

Marlow “Max” H. Stahmann, 71, of Van Dyne, died Monday, November 24, 2008, at St. Agnes Hospital.He was born on September 3, 1937, in the Township of Black Wolf, a son of Ernest A. and Mildred L. Nitschke Stahmann.Max proudly served his country in the United States Navy and Naval Reserve for 33 years.On October 3, 1959, he married Marian E. Hansen at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.He spent many years as a truck driver and farmer. He retired from the Van Dyne Fire Department after 36 years of service. He was a former member of the Van Dyne Lions Club. Above all else, Max enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends.Max was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church.He is survived by his wife and caregiver of 49 years, Marian; six children: Richard Stahmann of Knowles, Randy (Gail) Stahmann of Oshkosh, Rodney Stahmann of Oshkosh, Roger (Rita) Stahmann of Van Dyne, Renee (Harold) Rhoades of Germantown, and Rachel Stahmann of Madison; 12 grandchildren: Steven (Nola K), Brandon (Kati), Matthew (Cassandra), Aaron, Amanda, Ryan, Stephanie, Heather, Chad, Nicole, Cory, and Derek; three step-grandchildren: Corissa (Jed), Chad (Mollie), and Michael; one great-grandson, Gage; two step-great-grandchildren: Jocelyn and Maddalyn; a brother, Orland (Betty) Stahmann; four brothers-in-law: Laurence (Jeanette) Hansen, James (Marge) Hansen, William (Carlene) Hansen, and Cliff (Elma) Hansen; two sisters-in-law: Barbara (Arden) Schwersinske, and Ruth Albrecht; an aunt, Evelyn Stahmann; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold (Sylvia Nygaard) Stahmann; and a brother-in-law, David Albrecht.The visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2008, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, November 29, 2008, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, W6852 Main Street, Van Dyne.His service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at church with Rev. Lester Fritz officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Trier-Puddy Post 75.Special thanks to the caregivers at Adult Day Services for eleven years of care and compassion.
