Ruth A. Loehrke

Ruth A. (Schroeder) Loehrke, 95, from Underhill, Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Sage Meadow Assisted Living, her residence for the past seven years. Ruth was born and raised on the Pleasant View Family Farm, on September 6, 1927, to the late Henry and Olga (Marcheski) Schroeder. Ruth resided in Oakfield for many years followed by a short stay at Harbor Haven before moving to Sage Meadow. She was a kind soul who loved and nurtured everyone she met, willing to help anyone in need. Everyone looked to Ruth for updates on the latest daily happenings. Ruth had great stories about hard work on the farm and how she loved to bake and cook everything from scratch. Residents always searched Ruth out to play Sheepshead as she was the best. She also loved playing bingo, conversing over a shared piece of cake, and spent many hours puzzling. She looked forward to visits from friends, visiting with residents on the front porch at Sage Meadow, and reading letters from her son Leonard. Ruth had a strong faith and treasured worship time and prayer with Chaplain Jim. She always said “put everything in God’s hands and he will take care of it. He will take me when it is my time to go.” Ruth always said “eat three apples a day to keep the doctor away” and she did. Ruth is survived by a son Leonard in Florida, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester, her parents, in-laws, and many siblings. SERVICE: There will be a short memorial service and prayer for Ruth at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Sage Meadow Assisted Living, 597 Kingswood Avenue, Fond du Lac. Light refreshments will be served following. Cremation has taken place. Gratitude to long-time close friend Jean Blackburn who was also a personal shopper and companion to Ruth. They shared many wonderful memories and Ruth always wanted Jean to be known as her sister. Jean was at Ruth’s bedside many days before and at the time of Ruth’s passing.
