Aleene Abrahamson

Aleene Abrahamson, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Edenbrook of Fond du Lac. She was born August 21, 1935, to John and Catherine Francis, in Minnesota, where she was raised on a farm near Little Sauk. She worked as a bank teller for many years, both in Minnesota and in Wisconsin. She met her husband, Gordon Abrahamson, to whom she was married for 62 years. Aleene and Gordon had lived in Fond du Lac for the past 58 years. They have three children, ten grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Aleene was very active in the church, Immanuel Trinity Lutheran. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, square dancing, camping, being with family and friends, and made the best chocolate chip cookies in the world! She and Gordon loved to take their grandchildren on trips. And just the two of them also enjoyed many trips to places such as Nova Scotia, Pigeon Forge, Hawaii, Alaska and Colorado. Preceding her in death are her husband Gordon, parents John and Catherine Francis, in-laws Gust and Rose Abrahamson, brother and sister-in-law Jack and Barb Francis, brother and sister-in-law Merle and Arlene Francis, brother Darwin Francis, brother-in-law Gus Abrahamson, sister-in-law and brother-in law Ruth and Bill Schultz, niece Kathy Schultz, aunts and uncles, and a special cousin, Donna (Jack) Gafford of Houma, Louisiana, with whom they went to the Oshkosh EAA for many years. Aleene is survived by (and her memory is living on thru) her children, Wendy Rashid of Estes Park, Colorado, Sheri Powelson of Sparta and Todd (Kathy) Abrahamson of Fond du Lac, her ten grandchildren, Lindsey (Stacey) Sutherland, Tyler (Lindsay) Rashid, Aaron (Brittany) Rashid, Ashley (Francisco) Sauceda, Stephanie (Ross) Weyers, Rick (Christine) Wyngaard, Scott (Kristine) Powelson, Jacob (Briagha) Abrahamson, Patrick Abrahamson and Andrew Abrahamson, 22 great-grandchildren Declan, Brinley, Adasyn, Claire, Jack, Madeline, William, Ellie, Adriana, Marisol, Layla, Myles, Evelyn, Harlie, Landen, Hunter, Lincoln, AJ, Paige, Lucy, Rian and Gordy; her sister Carole Thompson and her sister-in-law Shirley Francis. Mama, you will be greatly missed by your family and many friends. “I love you a bushel and a peck!” Much thanks to all the staff at Edenbrook of Fond du Lac. You were all such a blessing! SERVICE: A joint funeral for Aleene and Gordon will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 5th, 2024 at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church, 20 Wisconsin American Drive, Fond du Lac. Visitation at the church will be from 10:00 am to the time of service. Inurnment will be at Egg Harbor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Edenbrook of Fond du Lac Activities Department.
