Anna Marie Hinckley

Anna Marie Hinckley, 85, of Fremont, passed away March 9, 2021 at ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah. She was born on October 16, 1935, in Fond du Lac, the eldest daughter of Henry and Elta Mae Kirkland Zimmerman. Early years were spent growing up on the family dairy farm. She was involved in 4-H from 1946 – 1956 and enjoyed gardening, dairy and food preservation projects and showed many of them at the Fond du Lac County Fair. She attended Nels P. Anderson School for the first eight years of education. She was a graduated of Fond du Lac Sr. High School, Class of 1953. She continued her education at Dodge County Teacher’s for two years, and taught school for two years before going to Oshkosh State for her B.S. Degree and graduated in 1957. She taught second graders at Hartford before marrying Edgar R. Hinckley in 1961. She taught in Sunflower, Kansas for a year, before returning to Hartford where she taught for two years at Colgate. The couple divorced in 1967, and she began teaching at Jackson (West Bend) for 27 years and retired in 1994 to Fremont. Anna Marie loved the outdoors, and continued to use her gardening skills she learned throughout the years. She joined the Waupaca Squares group to square dance. She enjoyed trips to Oneida for Bingo, as well as traveling to all 50 states, most of the Canadian Provinces and Mexico. She joined tour groups to Europe, Holyland, Peru and Australia/New Zealand. She took cruises to Bahamas, Alaska, Hawaii and the Panama Canal. She knitted many shawls and scarves with the local Prayer Shawl group. Anna Marie enjoyed working on counted cross-stitching and other projects. She found time to read as well. Anna is survived by her sister, Verna Immel of Fond du Lac, her best friend, travel companion and roommate for 60 years Edna Welch of Fremont, cousins and other friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Harlan Immel. VISITATION: Friends may call on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Hope United Church of Christ, 8950 Alpine Road, Fremont, WI 54950. SERVICE: Memorial services will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Hope United Church of Christ, with Pastor Lance Lackore officiating. Inurnment to be held at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to ThedaCare Hospice or Hope United Church of Christ, Fremont, WI.
