Carla Ann Behnke

Carla Ann Behnke, 56, of Oak Creek, died on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at her home in Oak Creek. She was born on November 27, 1961, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Norman and Judie Gratton Behnke. She was a graduate of L.P. Goodrich High School, Class of 1980. She received an Associate Degree from UW-Fond du Lac and graduated with an education degree from UW-Stevens Point in 1984. She taught elementary school and nursery school in Fond du Lac for several years and managed a Coach House Gift Store for 5 years in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She was currently employed by UW-Milwaukee for 20 years. She started in the Chemistry Department before transferring to become a Fee Specialist in the Registrar’s Office of Enrollment Management. Carla was a former member of the Church of Peace where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was active in the youth group. Carla was very talented, an avid crafter and could make anything, including numerous gifts for her family and friends. She was also a good cook. Carla is survived by her parents, and her brother Curt of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by her uncle, Donald (Lee) Behnke; Godparents: Patti Lane Kulaga of Las Vegas, NV and Donald Behnke of Fond du Lac. Her godchildren were Bryan Behnke of Phoenix, AZ; Elsa and Eve Delfosse, of Appleton, and Liam Schalk of Fond du Lac. She will be greatly missed by her close friends Carol, Adam & Whitney Holzman, Cindy Rush, Kathy and Jimmy Prince and her many co-workers. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Carl and Hazel Behnke; maternal grandparents, George and Viola Gratton, her maternal aunts and uncles and her Godmother Marilyn Ruch Koester. Memorials may be directed to her parents for a memorial in her name or a charity of your choice. A special thank you to Oak Creek Police Officer Paul Hernon for his tremendous compassion, and professionalism. VISITATION: Friends may call on Monday, January 15, 2018, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again from 9:30 until the time of service on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac. FUNERAL: Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Kurki- Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, with Rev. Gerald Schrankler officiating.
