Caroline Chadwick

Caroline Chadwick, 88, of Oakfield, was called home to the loving arms of her beloved Lord and Savior, on January 29, 2023. Carol was born on April 21, 1934, the daughter of Erich and Laura (Viehstedt) Meyn. She graduated from Goodrich High School, Class of 1952. She married Maynard Chadwick, Jr. on July 21, 1956 at Church of Peace, and they were married for 64+ years, until his death on June 12, 2021. Together they raised four children. Although Carol was employed during her earlier years, her main and most important job was being a dedicated homemaker to her family. She was a devoted, caring, and generous wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She adored her great-grandchildren. She was a fantastic cook with her specialties including her potato salad, lasagna, 7-layer salad, and pies. Mom enjoyed her motorcycle and snowmobiling trips with Dad up until a few years ago. Her more recent enjoyment included an occasional bingo night with her good friend Jeanette Messner, and watching game shows. She was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Carol is survived by her four children: Deborah Clark of Oakfield, Sandy (Mark) Ryan of Oakfield, Todd (Lori) Chadwick of Fond du Lac, and Craig Chadwick of Oakfield; her grandchildren: Amber (Ryan) McMahon, Andrea Clark, Andy (Jenny) Chadwick, Johnna Ryan, Mitchell (Jordan) Chadwick, and Brett (Lisabeth) Ryan; her great-grandchildren: Adrienne, Alden, Helen, Evelyn, along with twin great-grandbabies due to arrive in June; her brother Kenneth Meyn; brother-in-law Jerry Schwefel, and her furry companion, Maddie. She is also survived by nieces, cousins, and many lifelong friends. Carol was preceded in death by her husband of almost 65 years, Maynard, her parents, Erich and Laura Meyn, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Maynard, Sr. and Rosetta Chadwick; and her sister-in- laws: Patsy Schwefel and Dynie Meyn. Our family would like to express our deepest appreciation to Pastor Matthew Schwartz for always being there for Carol and her family with his visits, prayers, and words of comfort. Also, our sincere gratitude extends to Generations Home Care for their compassion and care, especially Lori, Kim, and Sue. VISITATION: Friends may call from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 245 S. 2nd St., Oakfield. SERVICE: Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, with Pastor Matthew Schwartz officiating. Burial to follow at Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield. Memorial donations in honor of Carol may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church “Build on the Rock Fund” or Generations Home Care and Hospice. We will miss you and you will always be in our hearts!
