Charles "Chuck" Day

Charles “Chuck” Day, 89, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023, at St. Francis Home after a month complication from a fall. Chuck was born November 16, 1933 to the late Elmer and Carol (Potter) Day. On July 19, 1958, Chuck and Mary Fuller were married at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Chuck and Mary enjoyed 65 years together. Chuck worked for the City of Fond du Lac for 45 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator. (Note: all those streets that were dug up in Fond du Lac, were probably done by Chuck.) He loved his job. Chuck was a member of Blue Line Hockey - Founding Fathers in 1975, serving as the first Vice President. He was a life member of Elks Lodge 57 and a member of Fond du Lac Eagles Aerie 270. Chuck enjoyed 27 years of retirement by wintering in Florida and Arizona, and taking many side trips. Chuck is survived by his wife Mary, his daughters: Christine (Scott) Ingalls and their sons Alex and Adam all of Fond du Lac and Catherine (Del) Smet of Eldorado and their children Nicole (Nick) Teel of Portland, OR and Jacob Smet of Eldorado; his brother Jerry (Esther) Day, sister-in-law Grace Day, brother-in-law Carlos Marquez. He is preceded in death by his daughter Carol (Ed) Vogt, his siblings: Bob (Marcy) Day, Marian (Jerry) Van Dyke, Loretta (Ollie) Wendel, John Day, Noreen (Don) Immel, Janette Marquez, Ron (Bev) Day and Raymond Day, in-laws Doyle and Cora Fuller, sister-in-law Corabel Wokosin and brother-in-law Philip Fuller. We want to give a special Thank-You to the staff at the Adult Day Care for their patience and friendship (Note: “Chuck take your walker!”). Thank you to St. Francis Home staff and Hospice Care staff during his short stay with them. You were all a great comfort for us. VISITATION: The family will greet family and friends from 11:00 – 12:00 PM, on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Kurki Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac. SERVICE: Memorial services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Kurki Funeral Chapel & Crematory. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
