David G. Lohse

David George Lohse, aged 76, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, went home to be with his Savior on Thursday, November 30, 2023. Born on January 20, 1947, in Fond du Lac, he was the cherished son of Lawrence A. Lohse and Georgia C. (Streblow) Lohse. Dave's life was a testament to his faith, love, and the joy he found in his many passions. He married his high school sweetheart, Christine J. (Schultz) Lohse, on June 21, 1969, at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Brownsville, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together that lasted 54 years. A man of faith and community, Dave was baptized and confirmed at Saint Peter's Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac, where he also attended grade school. He continued his Christian education at WLA and MLC, embodying the values of his faith in every aspect of his life. Dave's athletic prowess was evident from a young age. A gifted sprinter, basketball player, and baseball enthusiast, he began his journey in sports with Little League at the age of eight. He continued playing baseball with slow pitch until he was 68, leading his own team, Paradise Records. His talents extended beyond the sports field to the realm of music. A remarkable self-taught musician, Dave composed and played the keyboard, singing songs that touched many hearts. He released four albums under the name Paradise Records, sharing his love for music with the world. Professionally, Dave was a dedicated insurance agent with Prudential, where his hard work often earned him conference trips, which became cherished family vacations. His retirement years were spent at Kohl's, where he enjoyed helping people, meeting new friends, and making lasting connections with his coworkers. Dave's quick wit, jokes, and overprotective love will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and music that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Chris; children: Brian (Kathy) Lohse, Susan (César) Gamiño, and Stacy (Matthew) Waltz; sisters and brothers-in-law: Lucille Lohse, Sandra (Jim) Clemmerson, Diane (Harry) Christiansen, Carl Schultz, Paul (Brenda) Schultz, and Yvonne (Mark) Putz. He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law Norbert and Joyce Schultz, son Brett Lohse, brothers Wayne and Larry Lohse, sisters-in-law Ethel M. Lohse and Roseanne V. Schultz, and nephews Ian Putz and Adam Wood. The family will greet friends and family from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Faith Ev. Lutheran Church, 55 Prairie Road, Fond du Lac, where Dave had been a member for over 40 years. Memorial Services will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. David Haugly officiating. Inurnment will be at Lyons Forest Home Cemetery, Town of Forest. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Faith Lutheran Church or Winnebago Lutheran Academy.
