Eric D. Schumacher

Eric D. Schumacher, 16, of Van Dyne, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008, following a snowmobile accident at home.He was born on December 9, 1992, in Oshkosh, a son of Chris J. and Sharon K. Gantner Schumacher. Eric was a sophomore at Winnebago Lutheran Academy where he participated in football and baseball. Outside of high school, he was active in 4-H programs and he especially enjoyed showing cattle. He was a sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed listening to music and spending time with his friends. His favorite activity was riding his Arctic Cat ATV and snowmobile.Eric was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Van Dyne.He is survived by his parents; two sisters, Laura (Scott) Suprenand of Davenport, Iowa, and Jenna Schumacher; a brother, Brandon Schumacher; a niece, Anna Schumacher, all at home; paternal grandparents, Donald and Gloria Schumacher of Van Dyne; maternal grandparents, Margaret and Donald Gantner of Oshkosh; maternal great-grandfather, Franklin Laabs of Oshkosh; paternal aunts and uncles: Jan (Bonnie) Schumacher of Fond du Lac, Gayle (Michelle) Schumacher of Horicon, Brian (Carla) Schumacher of Van Dyne, Scot (Roseann) Schumacher of Mt. Calvary, and Julie (Greg) Strean of Van Dyne; maternal aunts and uncles: Deborah Gantner (friend, Chuck Hunter) of Pickett, Michael (Bev) Gantner of Van Dyne, Ralph (Kathleen) Gantner of Oshkosh, and Dale (Julie) Gantner of Oshkosh; and numerous cousins.The visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1010 Adams Avenue, North Fond du Lac. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at church with Rev. Lester Fritz officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Ev. Lutheran Cemetery.Eric will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His contagious smile will live on in our hearts forever.Live one day at a time, enjoy one moment at a time. Accept hardship as a pathway to peace. Take this sinful world as it is, like Jesus did, not as I would have it. For every end there is a new beginning. God’s grace gives us strength for a new start.In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be directed to Winnebago Lutheran Academy.
