Eugene C. Rabe

Eugene C. Rabe, “Geno”, 79, a resident of Eldorado Township, died Saturday, January 9, 2010, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He accepted his Lord and Saviour during his courageous battle with cancer.He was born on December 9, 1930, in Eldorado, a son of Eddie E. and Meta M. Wruck Rabe.On August 9, 1952, he married Barbara I. Wilbrecht at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brownsville.Eugene farmed in the Township of Eldorado for most of his life. In his semi-retired days, he helped with excavation.He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.One of Eugene’s favorite pastimes was gardening and sharing all of his homegrown vegetables with family and friends. His passion for cooking was appreciated by everyone around him. He enjoyed socializing with many friends and cherished spending time with his familyEugene is survived by four sons: Michael (Carol) Rabe of Eldorado, Mark (Tina) Rabe of Fond du Lac, Douglas Rabe of Janesville, David (Kathy) Rabe of Van Dyne; three daughters: Paula (Dale) Eubanks of Eldorado, Darcy and Stacey Rabe of Janesville; 13 grandchildren: Heather (Timothy) Vande Berg, Heidi (John) Barthels, Barbara (John) Goldapske, Shane (Gail) Rabe, Amy Rabe (special friend, Scott), Jason (Amy) Rabe, Mallory Rabe, Mackenzie Rabe, Kiley Ryan, Melanie Ruedinger, Laura Eubanks, Matt Eubanks, and Andy Eubanks; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Wendt of Fond du Lac, Bernice (Donald) Hollander of Ripon; a brother, Gordon ( Barbara) Rabe of Oshkosh; a sister-in-law, Winnie Wilbrecht of Madison, a brother-in-law, John (Nancy) Wilbrecht of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; nieces and nephews; and two special dogs: Minnie and Bootsie.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara, on January 15, 1974; a sister, Lucille (Harold) Bean; and a brother, Monroe (Doris) Rabe; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Wendt and Carl Wilbrecht. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, N7987 Town Hall Road, Eldorado, with Rev. Aaron Odya officiating. Burial will follow in Rosendale Cemetery.Visitation will be on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
