Hugh Frank McCoyHugh Frank McCoy, 89, “The best looking man on Forest Avenue”, died Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope.He was born on August 24, 1919 in Fond du Lac, a son of Frank and Ada Priepke McCoy. On November 10, 1942, Hugh married Betty Jean Schuchardt, in Fond du Lac.He graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School, and attended Fountain City Business College, Fond du Lac.Hugh entered the U.S. Army prior to WWII and served for five years.Following his service, he was employed at Wisconsin Power and Light as an engineer for 35 years.Hugh was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Fond du Lac. He enjoyed being active in his church, teaching and coordinating Sunday school, as well as contributing his skills in carpentry and maintenance.In his earlier years, he enjoyed camping with his family and hunting. He took carving lessons and loved to carve wildlife. Hugh and Betty both enjoyed dancing and were long time members of a square dancing club.He will be remembered by many for his master carpentry skills. Together with his wife, Betty, he built his home on Forest Avenue.He is survived by four children: Thomas (Mary) McCoy of Fond du Lac, Jill (Robert) Haak of St. Cloud, Mn., Dan (Renee) McCoy of Lexington, Ok., and David (Lynn) McCoy of Rosendale; 10 grandchildren: Todd (Danielle) McCoy, Mark McCoy, Thomas “T.J.” McCoy, Jr., and special friend Tammy Liedke, Anthony “Tony” McCoy, all of Fond du Lac; Christopher (Amy) Haak of Wellington, Co., Dana Haak of St. Cloud, Mn., Michael (Michelle) McCoy of Milwaukee, Heather (Jude) Wimberger of Minneapolis, Mn., Nicholas “Nick” (Megan) McCoy of Milwaukee and Amy (Daniel) Redeker of Waupun; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, Tim (Joan) McCoy of Fond du Lac; two sisters; Bette (Gordon) Worm, of Fond du Lac; and Dawn Bartelt of Plymouth; together with nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, and a great-grandson.The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 20 N. Marr St., with the Rev. Michael Morning officiating.Entombment will follow at Shrine of Rest, Ledgeview Memorial Park Mausoleum.The visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.Memorials may be directed to Covenant United Methodist Church or Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope.
