Jean A. Rose

Jean Alice (Gralapp) Rose, 86, of Fond Du Lac, died peacefully at her home on October 16, 2021, in the presence of her loving family. She was a wonderfully devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Serving others was one of her true joys in life. Jean and her late husband Vic enjoyed volunteering at the EAA Museum, the annual Fond du Lac Fair, and at Loaves and Fishes. Jean was an active member of Grace Evangelical Free Church, formerly known as Grace Reformed Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and helped with Vacation Bible School for many years. In their retirement, Jean and Vic enjoyed traveling throughout the country in their 5th wheel camper and visited 48 states. Jean was an accomplished seamstress and baker. She always cherished the special times she spent with her grandchildren. Jean was born October 22, 1934, to Roy and Hulda Gralapp in Van Dyne, WI. Jean graduated from Fond Du Lac High School in 1953. Jean and Vic were married on April 14, 1956 at Salem United Methodist Church on Ridge Road in Eldorado. They lived in Eden, WI on Vic’s family farm until 1968 when they proceeded to design/build their own home in Fond du Lac. Jean stayed at home for many years raising her children. She then worked as a teacher’s aide at Taft, Lakeshore, and San Marcos, CA Elementary School. She was also employed at St. Agnes Hospital as a physical therapy tech and then went on to work at the hospital’s information desk. Jean is survived by: Patricia (Al) Hamilton of Horicon, Melanie (Karl) Lenser of Conway, AR, Frederick (Keri) Rose of Greenville, WI; her grandchildren: Danielle, Caleb, Benjamin, Kristian, Anna, Natalie and Tommy; seven great-grandchildren, brother Robert Gralapp, sister-in-law Gloria Gralapp, and many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vic, son Tommy, brother Richard Gralapp, sister Joyce Wolsted, sister-in-law Nancy Gralapp and brother-in-law Robert Wolsted. Jean’s favorite bible verse was “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13 VISITATION: Friends may call from 9:00 – 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 163 East 18th Street, Fond du Lac. SERVICE: Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Grace Evangelical Free Church. Inurnment will take place at Empire Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Youth for Christ. Special thanks to Hospice Hope.
