LaVerne M. Mitzelfeldt

LaVerne M. Mitzelfeldt, 93, of 800 South Park Avenue, Fond du Lac, died Monday, April 18, 2016,at home.She was born on May 25, 1922, in the Town of Williamstown, Dodge County, Wisconsin, a daughter of Ewald A. and Pearl Tidyman Nack.LaVerne graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School in 1939, and attended Moraine Park Technical College for supplemental classes. She was very active with the Class Reunion Committee.On November 15, 1952, she married Karl W. Mitzelfeldt. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1981.LaVerne worked as a secretary at Giddings and Lewis for over 45 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Oldsters Club.She was a longtime member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church downtown, where she taught Sunday school for 25 years and sang in the choir for 51 years. In 2009, LaVerne became a member of Hope Lutheran Church, where she was a very active volunteer.LaVerne enjoyed singing, bowling, golf, traveling, cooking, playing bridge and walking. Since her retirement, she was a volunteer at Agnesian Healthcare and a long time poll worker.She is survived by two nieces: Terrie (Bobby) Cubby of Traverse City, Michigan and Patti Lacy Gallagher of Burlington, Vermont; four nephews: Charles (Carole) Roys of Aurora, Illinois, Michael (Diane) Allison of Aurora, Illinois, Justin Lacy of Morrisville, North Carolina, and Andrew (Colleen) Lacy of Webster, New York; a niece-in-law, Louise Roys of Lowell, Indiana; a sister-in-law, Pattie Ryan Lacy of Rochester, New York; great nieces and great nephews; special friends: Keith and Cathy Peterson and family of Columbus, Wisconsin, and Greg and Sue Peterson and family of Beverly Hills, Florida; and a very special friend, Joyce Frazier of Fond du Lac.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Karl; three sisters: Patty Nack, Marjorie Lacy, and Viola Roys Allison; and a nephew, John Roys.VISITATION: The visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2016, at Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac.SERVICE: A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory with Rev. Jason Peterson officiating.Burial will follow in Estabrooks Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hope Lutheran Church.
