Lloyd G. Ott

Lloyd G. Ott, 77, of Eldorado, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 17, 2015.He was born on November 5, 1938, in the Town of Eldorado, the son of George and Nathaleen Dunn Ott. He was baptized November 23, 1938, and confirmed in the Christian faith on May 6, 1951, in the Evangelical United Brethren Church. Lloyd graduated from Rosendale High School, Class of 1956.Lloyd served with the United States National Guard.On July 10, 1965, he married Janice B. Steinert at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Oshkosh, with Rev. E. W. Rabe officiating.Lloyd worked on the family farm and continued working there, as well as working at Oshkosh Truck for 34 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Oshkosh Truck Union Local 578 and Oshkosh Truck Retirees. He was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Nekimi, where he served on the church council, as a trustee for three terms. He taught Sunday school with his mentor, Tuffy, ushered for many years, and was the ushering team captain. Also, he belonged to St. John’s Senior Saints.After his retirement, he took a 30 day trip to Alaska, which he loved. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and his birds.He is survived by his wife, Janice; two daughters: Jodie (Richard) Garb and Kristine (Jeff) Moon, all of Eldorado; three grandchildren: Erik(fiancée, Melissa Zimmerman)Moon and Cody Moon, and Ashley Garb; one step-grandchild, Melissa Von Eiff; and two step-great-grandchildren: Erik and Anna; two sisters: Betty Madison of Van Dyne, and Shirley (Melvin) Riggs of Eldorado; a foster brother, Stanley (Nancy) Wagner of Dyer, IN; a sister-in-law, Carol (Terry) Gintner of Omro; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, James Madison; father and mother-in-law, Hilbert and Lucille Raddatz Steinert.VISITATION: The visitation will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2015, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Nekimi, 491 Old Oregon Street Road, Oshkosh.FUNERAL SERVICE: The funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at church with Rev. Carl Knitt officiating.Burial will be on Tuesday in Oaklawn Cemetery, Town of Black Wolf.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Evergreen Creekview Rehab, Oshkosh.
