Lois M. Baumhardt

Sunday, August 17, 2014, Lois went home to heaven, arriving in time for the 9:15 a.m. service. Her family tearfully, yet peacefully, celebrated her home-going at her hospital bedside. Each and every family member, whether there in person or spirit, knew without a doubt, she had joined the great cloud of witnesses that continues to cheer us on.She was born on March 23, 1935, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of Harold H. and Nina L. Titel Hills.On April 24, 1954 Robert “Bob” Carl Baumhardt and Lois Marie Hills were married and embarked upon a full life of living “happily ever after”. At the beginning of June, 2014, Lois was able to fulfill a life-long wish by taking a trip overseas with her daughter, Julie, and son-in-law, Gary, to Brussels, Belguim; Aachen, Germany, and Paris, France. One month later, July 19, 2014, she and Bob celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary of 60 years at the Eden Community Center. Watching her, it was as if she had returned to the day of their wedding reception as they interacted joyfully with all the family and friends who attended to celebrate with them.While overseas with her daughter, Julie, Lois commented that she always wanted to go overseas and start an orphanage. She chose instead to invest in her children, Terry, Julie, Tim, and Lisa. As a result, her dream was still fulfilled as her children married, providing a wealth of heritage to her in grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Lois was a member of Lighthouse Christian Church, Fond du Lac.She is survived by her husband, Bob; four children: Terry (Rita) Baumhardt and their children: Misty (Allen) Snyder with Deion and Hunter, and Joshua Baumhardt; Julie (Gary) McElhany and their children: Stacee (Brent) Johnson with Annalynne, Brennon, and Jilliann, and Ryan (LaShera) McElhany with Addie, Emmie, and Libbie “Hardt” (her namesake); Tim (Maureen) Baumhardt and their children: Mike Baumhardt, and Matt (Amy) Baumhardt with baby Bensen, due December 27, 2014, and Heather Kutz; and Lisa (Jerry) Hill and their children: Makensie, Chaz, Matthew “Logan”, and Jonas Hill; three brothers: Ronald (Cindy) Hills, Darrel (Shelby) Hills, and Richard (Laura) Hills; and a sister, Dorothy Farvour.She was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, Timothy KeelingThe funeral service will be at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Lighthouse Christian Church, 401 South National Avenue, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Tim Carlton and Rev. Gary D. McElhany officiating.The visitation will be on Wednesday at church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.Entombment will be at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park, N6250 County Road K, Fond du Lac. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Nina Hills Memorial Scholarship at Southwestern Assemblies of God University, 1200 Sycamore, Waxahachie, TX 75165.
