Paul R. Goldapske

Paul R. Goldapske, 86, Fond du Lac, passed away at Hospice Home of Hope and went to be with his Heavenly Father January 30, 2018. Paul was born in Fond du Lac on November 08, 1931 to the parents of Paul and Minnie Heber Goldapske. He was one of thirteen children. Paul met his wife and love of his life, Karen Barton Inks in Oakfield, WI and they were married September 3, 1966 in Fond du Lac. Paul spent his entire life in the Fond du Lac area. He was a dedicated family man, who with Karen raised six children. He served in the National Guard from 1949 to 1959 and then worked for the Soo Line Railroad for 44 years, retiring in 1995. Paul had many hobbies and interests which included, hunting, fishing, sturgeon spearing, bowling, golfing and various other sports. He especially loved working on his land. Paul loved the outdoors and birdwatching. He was a gifted athlete and excelled in baseball in his younger years. He also enjoyed coaching the Packers and Brewers from his recliner. Paul and Karen enjoyed many trips, get togethers, and card games with their many good friends. Paul was a dedicated and faithful member of Church of Our Savior in Fond du Lac, WI. Survivors include his wife: Karen Goldapske, Fond du Lac; Children: Richard (Diana) Goldapske ,Oakfield, WI, Patricia “Patti” (Todd) Shippee, Fond du Lac; Deborah Hoffman, Gig Harbor, WA; David (Kathy) Inks, Waupun, WI; Ronald (Lisa) Inks, Plover, WI; Steven (Samantha) Inks, Oakfield, WI; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Paul lovingly revered his parents and siblings. He leaves behind three brothers: Elmer, North Fond du Lac; Henry (Pat), North Fond du Lac and Fred of Fond du Lac, three sisters: Minnie (Gerald) Altman, Anne (Mike) Nolan Lange Necker, Olga (Alfred) Toetz, many cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and sisters in law: John (Lucille), Robert (Emma), Charles (Joyce), Arthur (Virginia), Walter (Gloria), and Leonard (Marjorie), sisters in law: Carol and Billie, and many close friends. Paul was diagnosed with the disease PSP in 2013. He was determined to overcome it, as each decline took more of his ability away, he met it with dignity and grace and strategically adapted. Progressive Supranuclear Palsy is a rare neurological disorder that has no cure or effective treatment. To assist in finding a cure, Paul gifted his brain to the Brain Bank in Jacksonville FL. in order to help find a cure for PSP, in hopes that no one will have to endure this devastating disease.
