Phyllis M. Leonard

Phyllis Mae Leonard, 91, passed from this earthly life and gained her eternal inheritance on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. On January 1, 1930, Phyllis was born to Gustave and Adeline (Roeder) Anton of Randolph, the second of five daughters. She graduated from Randolph High School, Class of 1947. In 1952, she married Albert Lenhart and moved to Colorado. Phyllis and Al raised 3 daughters together until Al passed away in 1970. Phyllis returned to the Midwest, completing her LPN degree at Sauk Valley College in Sterling, IL. She worked as an LPN in numerous locations during the following years. Phyllis moved back to Wisconsin where she met and married George Leonard in 1970. She loved dancing to big band music, especially when George was playing the drums. Phyllis’ love of music prompted her to join the Sweet Adelines, a women’s barbershop group. She was thrilled to perform at Carnegie Hall with the group. Throughout her life, faith and service to others were a priority. She volunteered her time to her churches, the Lutheran Day School, and the Red Cross bloodmobile - among others. One of her greatest joys was her trips to Colorado to see her girls. She rode the train out west and back and made the trip as often as she could. Above all, Phyllis loved her Savior and her life was dedicated to showing God’s love to those around her. Phyllis is survived by three daughters, Carol Turner, Grandby, CO; Susan Lenhart, Hot Sulphur Springs, CO; Debra Lenhart, Hayden, CO; her sister and her husband, Mary (Roger) Jauregui, in-laws, Donna Nelson, Charles Leonard; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Albert Lenhart; second husband, George Leonard; an infant daughter, Penny Louise; grandson, Daniel Turner; her sisters and their husbands, Elaine (Hilbert) Henke, Margie Hoyt, Carol (Ed) Nelson; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Anthony E. (Marion) Leonard, Brian Seibel, Mary (Tom) Dobyns, Betty (Eddie) Porn, Rosie Leonard. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Woodlands Senior Park and Agnesian Hospice Hope for their wonderful care for our Phyllis. VISITATION: Friends may call from 3:00 – 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Kurki Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac. SERVICE: A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Kurki Funeral Chapel & Crematory, with Rev. Michael Weigand officiating. Cremation has taken place.
