Raymond A. Stahmann

Raymond “Cookie” Armin Stahmann, 88, of Van Dyne, took Jesus’ hand on Sunday, October 16, 2022, while at home, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on March 14, 1934, at home in Van Dyne, the son of John and Cora Schenk Stahmann. He was received into Christ’s family through Baptism on April 8, 1934, and was confirmed in the faith on March 30, 1947, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Eldorado. He graduated from Rosendale High School, Class of 1953. After high school, Ray served eight years in the United States Army Military, specializing in Artillery, and was honorably discharged. He was a life-time member of the DAV. On September 6, 1975, he married Kathleen “Kaye” Hounsell at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Ray is a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. His love for Jesus was evident, as he served on the church council, school board and ushering crew over the years. He loved many hymns and sang them out loudly. Ray worked at Wells Manufacturing for 53 years, 4 months, retiring on January 7, 2007. Ray loved telling stories, gardening and spending time with his family and cats. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Kaye Stahmann, his daughters: Kelly (Nate) Laabs, Korlea (Dan) Thiem and Kristy Stahmann, his grandchildren: Hannah, Noah, Kyla and Logan Laabs and Preston Thiem, his sister Elaine (Leo) Russell, his brother-in-law James (Carol) Hounsell, and many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his friends Gary Abraham and Mark Kunde, who never missed a week sending Ray a get well note. He is preceded in death by his parents. VISITATION: The family will greet friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 913 Nebraska Street, Oshkosh. SERVICE: Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, with Pastor Joshua Jensen officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Ridge Road. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 will conduct military graveside services. In lieu of flowers memorials to be directed to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Winnebago Lutheran Academy or Aurora Hospice. Special thanks to Aurora Hospice and Comfort Keepers for the care and compassion shown to “Cookie” and family over the past two years.
