Richard "Butch" L. Drew

Richard “Butch” Drew, 68, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Hospice Home of Hope on Friday, October 18, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. Butch was born in Fond du Lac, in 1956, to Richard and Darlene (Miller) Drew; the oldest of six boys. He grew up in Dotyville, played football at Goodrich High School, and graduated from there in 1974. He played hockey for Blue Line and the Bears. He served in the United States Navy. On October 16, 1982, he married the love of his life, Catherine E. Schneider, at St. Patrick’s Church in Fond du Lac. On September 2, 1983, they received the biggest gift of their lives, twins Sara and Benjamin. Butch worked as a machinist at Mercury Marine, until his retirement in 2022. When Butch served in the Navy, so began his love of softball, which he continued for many years playing in Fond du Lac and North Fond du Lac. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an avid pool and dart shooter, and was good at handyman projects. His family gave him great joy. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cathy, his children: Sara (Wade) Stoinski and Benjamin Drew; his granddaughters: Iana (Landon) Arthurs, Kali Stoinski and Kennedy Stoinski; his mother Darlene Drew, his brothers: Steve (Amanda) Drew, Todd (Joelle) Drew, and Eric Drew; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Wendy (Bob) Plawski, Cathy Schneider, Joan (Paul) Mittelsteadt, Chuck (Julie) Schneider, Diane Thome, Beth Schneider, Rose (Tim) Ahern, Bob (Brooke) Schneider and Mark (Maureen) Kraus. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Richard “Dick” Drew, brothers: Michael and Glenn Drew, his mother and father-in-law: Anthony and Marlene “Sue” Schneider, brothers-in-law: Raymond Schneider, William “Bill” Schneider and Joe Thome, sister-in-law Debra Kraus; and his nephews: Jessey Drew and Adam Giebel. VISITATION: The family will greet friends and relatives from 4:00 – 7:30 PM on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Kurki Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac. SERVICE: Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, October 25, 2024, Sacred Heart Church of Holy Family Parish, 200 South Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac. Inurnment will follow at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery, where American Legion Trier-Puddy Post 75 will conduct Military Services. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the family. The family extends their deepest appreciation to the amazing staff at Hospice Home of Hope.
