Robert J. Miller

Robert John (Bob) Miller age 98, formally of Rosendale passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Eden Vista Assisted Living. Bob was born in rural Pickett, Wisconsin, on March 10, 1928, the son of the late Melvin and Lucille (Zahn) Miller. On September 9, 1950, Bob married Marilyn Wittchow. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage and lived in Rosendale, Wisconsin their entire married life. Marilyn passed away on October 2, 2017. Bob graduated from Rosendale High School where he was very active in baseball and basketball. Post High School, he attended college at UW River Falls and later served in the US army during the Korean Conflict. After his service, he worked at Koehler Lumber Company in Rosendale until the business closed. He then worked at Farm Services in Rosendale and Fullerton Lumber in Ripon. He ended his career by working as Head Custodian at Laconia High School. After his retirement, he worked part time as a van driver for the Rosendale/Brandon School District. He loved being around young people and working with the kids and they all adored him. Bob was very community oriented. He was the Village president for many years. He was affectionately known as "Mayor Miller". He was a charter member of the Rosendale Lions Club and served on many committee's both in the community and at Peace Lutheran Church in Rosendale and Saint Stephen's Lutheran Church in Rogersville. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Rosendale Fire Department. Bob was an Avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Milwaukee Brewers, the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers. He could always name every player and stat for the Brewers. He was also a sports announcer for Laconia High School football games. Bob played on a number of softball teams in his younger days. He also played drums in a band called "The Polka Dot Tunesters". Bob was known by all for his contagious smile, positive attitude and sense of humor. He was kind to everyone and always made you feel that you were important to him. Everyone that met him, fell in love with him. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were very important to him and he always knew what each of them were doing and was always very active in their life. In his later years, he loved doing puzzles, playing cards, and playing bingo. He always won at bingo and loved showing us his prizes. He also loved beating us in cards where his smile became even more apparent! Bob was truly one of a kind and we will all miss him so much. Bob is survived by his son Rick (Sue) Miller, Oshkosh, along with his three granddaughters: Jennifer Miller (special friend Dave Rashid) Madison, Jessica Miller, China and Christina (Ammon) Collins, Portland, and great grandsons Cash and Jax Collins, Portland. Bob is further survived by his step grandchildren Bret (Paula) Hamer, Oshkosh and Keli Jezwinski, Oshkosh in addition to his great step grandchildren Emma and Aiden Jezwinski, Oshkosh and Luke and Nik Hamer, Oshkosh. Bob is further survived by his two sisters: Marilyn Albrecht and Julie (Tom) Stellmacher; and his sisters-in-law: Shirley Batterman, Rosie Wittchow and Marion Wittchow. Bob will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends and a very special friend, Gary Salzman. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marilyn Miller, his daughter Deborah Patrenets, his parents Melvin and Lucille Miller, father and mother-in-law August and Dorothy (Paul) Wittchow, brother Eugene (Irene) Miller, brothers in law Duane "Pookie" Wittchow, George Albrecht, Eugene Wittchow and Orville Batterman. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Kurki Funeral Chapel, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac. Visitation will take place from 10:00 to noon followed by the Memorial service at noon. A lunch following the service will be held at the Eagles Club in Fond du Lac. Pastor Tim Albrecht (nephew) will hold the service and best friend Don Marshall will do the Eulogy. Military Honors will be performed following the service. Inurnment will be in Rosendale Cemetery following the luncheon. We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Eden Vista and the staff at PRN Preceptor Hospice for providing such supportive and compassionate care during Dads final months.
