Roger E. Jones

Roger Elden Jones of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, just as he lived—surrounded by family and the love and grace of his strong faith. He was 91. Roger was born on June 3, 1934, in Rosendale, Wisconsin, to Robertson and Onice (Tompkins) Jones. He graduated from Rosendale High School and continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. A life of travel, music, faith, and family was set in motion when he married his Rosendale High School classmate, Donna Pfeiffer, on June 21, 1958. Roger's passion for adventure was ignited immediately after college when he worked as a Trip Coordinator on a UW-Whitewater around-the-world tour in 1956. He then dedicated years to education, teaching business education at Chetek and Barron High Schools before becoming part-owner and manager of Barron County Abstract Company in Barron for over four decades. A man of deep faith, Roger shared his spiritual joy through music. He was a devoted choir director for nearly 60 years, leading congregations at Barron United Methodist Church, Chetek Lutheran Church, and First Lutheran Church of Barron. Roger's favorite activities were centered on his family, Bible research, and anything music. He also loved to travel and had a passion for rollercoasters. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Donna Jones, and their children: Dennis and his wife, Elizabeth Lahey Jones, and their children, Eddie and Josephine; and Richard (Rick) and his wife, Bethany Ford Jones, and their children, Sean and Erica. Roger is also survived by twelve of his thirteen beloved nieces and nephews—Deanna, Bill, Tom, Janet, David, Jim, Jeff, Sharon, Nancy, Bill, Greg, and Beth—and their families. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Robertson and Onice Jones, his brothers, Robert and David, and his niece, Kathleen (Tabbert) Ruch. SERVICE: A memorial service to celebrate Roger’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Church of Our Saviour Lutheran, 363 S. Main Street, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, with Rev. Crystal Lee officiating. Visitation before the service will be from 11:00 AM till time of service. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will take place at Rogersville Cemetery.
