Roger L. Zwicky

Roger L. Zwicky, 69, a resident of Harbor Haven Healthcare Center, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, following a thirteen year courageous battle with Huntington’s Disease.He was born on June 6, 1940, in the Town of Black Wolf, a son of Edwin and Genevieve Zilligas Zwicky.On May 27, 1960, he married VerJean J. Stahmann at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Nekimi. Roger worked at Lone Elm Cheese Factory, Northern Aluminum, and then at Mercury Marine where he became a member of their Quarter Century Club for his 26 years of service.Roger was a member and usher at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Nekimi, and served on the church council and assisted with Sunday school. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and he enjoyed Sheepshead, bowling, dancing, and gardening. His greatest love was his family, especially his granddaughters and great-grandson.He is survived by his wife, VerJean Stahmann Zwicky of Van Dyne; two children: Dawn Barrette of Van Dyne, and Jeffrey Zwicky of Fond du Lac; three granddaughters: Lindsey (Ben) Riker of Three Lakes, Kelli Barrette of LaCrosse, and Kristie Barrette of DePere; a great-grandson, Lucas Riker; two brothers, Daniel (Linda) Zwicky and Gene (Judy) Zwicky, both of Fond du Lac; a sister, Susie (Harold) Pinno of Fond du Lac; two sisters-in-law: Millie Zwicky of Fond du Lac and Darlene Zwicky of Pickett; an aunt, Barbara (Kenneth) Marx of Oshkosh. He is further survived by his wife’s two sisters: Lanayr and Elaine Albrecht, both of Van Dyne; her brother, Hilly Albrecht of Van Dyne; and other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Elmer Werner; a sister, Judy Zwicky Hebert; two brothers: Richard and Lee A. Zwicky; a sister-in-law, Elaine (Hilly) Albrecht.The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 15, 2010, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 491 Old Oregon Street Road, Oshkosh, with Rev. James E. Reiff officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Nekimi.The visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, and on Monday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Snug Harbor and Sunrise units at Harbor Haven Healthcare Center, especially Karen and Jody, Hospice Advantage, especially Tabbie and Barb. The family would also like to thank Rev. James E. Reiff for his prayers and guidance.
