Serena R. Toll

Serena Ruth Toll, 92, of Fond du Lac, passed into the Lord’s protective arms at Woodlands Senior Park on October 14, 2024. She was born April 9, 1932, in Hortonville, WI, the daughter of Albert and Josephine (Zuberbier) Radichel. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville. Following graduation from Hortonville High School in 1950, she attended Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN where she met her future husband, Frederick “Fritz” Toll of Fond du Lac. They married on August 1, 1953. After the kids were in school, Serena served as head cook for many years at St. Peter’s Lutheran School in Fond du Lac. She was an accomplished seamstress sewing many wedding and prom dresses. In 1977, her uncle, T. W. Zuberbier (principal of Winnebago Lutheran Academy), asked her if she would teach Home Economics. She held this position until 1995. She sang in the senior choir at St. Peter’s for many years, also the Winnebago Lutheran Chorale and sang solos for weddings and funerals. She is survived by her son, Mark (Deb) Toll of Appleton and daughters: Sheila (Rob) Dammann of Bettendorf, IA, Cheryl (Rick) Del Ponte of Campbellsport, Sue Toll of Fond du Lac; her grandchildren: Michael (Kaylin) Toll, Aaron (Kaitlin) Dammann, Jared (Caitlin) Dammann, Daniel (Erica) Dammann, Melisa Del Ponte, David (Alexia) Del Ponte; great-grandchildren: Alden, Anna, Benjamin, Grace, Ava, Madeline, Lily, Micah, Natalie, Maverick and Max. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Carol Christensen, half-brothers: Alvin, Edgar and Gilbert Radichel, half-sisters: Anita (Zuberbier) Dorschner and Leone Steingraber. VISITATION: The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 – 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1600 South Main Street, Fond du Lac. SERVICE: Funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and School, Winnebago Lutheran Academy, Hospice Home of Hope, Fox Valley Lutheran High School (Appleton), Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and School (Appleton) or a charity of your choice. Special thanks to the staff at Woodlands Senior Park and SSM Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Serena and her family.
