Shirley M. Rost

Shirley Mae Rost, 93, of North Fond du Lac, died Thursday, August 22, 2024, at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born on December 4, 1930, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Harvey and Margaret Klabunde Voss. She was a 1949 graduate of North Fond du Lac High School. On February 28, 1953, she married Melvin Lawrence Rost. They would enjoy 63 years of wedded bliss before his death in 2016. Shirley was known for many things. First was her love of music. She played baritone in her high school marching band. She was also a part of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church choir for 50 years and the Winnebago Lutheran Chorale for 15 years. Anyone who knew her knows she was an avid Milwaukee Bucks fan. She watched every game and her living room was filled with memorabilia which she proudly displayed. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters: Diane (Mark) Logterman of North Fond du Lac, and Pam (Mike) Krebs of Sauk City; a daughter-in-law Cheryl Rost of Verona; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, with number twelve due in December. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Barb Rost. She is preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law, her husband, a son Gary, and a great-grandson, Braxton. VISITATION: The family will greet friends and relatives from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Friday, August 30, 2024, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1010 Adams Avenue, North Fond du Lac. SERVICE: Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 30, 2024, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member, with Rev. Michael Kampman and Rev. Elijah Ehlert officiating. Inurnment to follow at Estabrooks Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Adelaide Place caregivers for the love and care they gave her. She loved and enjoyed her new home and the friends she met during her short time there. They would also like to thank the nurses in the ICU at St. Agnes Hospital, for the love and compassion given to Mom and the family. “I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praises to God as long as I live” Psalm 104:33.
