William Retzlaff, Jr.

William Retzlaff, Jr., 87, of 350 Winnebago Street, North Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.He was born on December 15, 1920, in Fond du Lac, a son of the late William and Marjorie Conroy Retzlaff, Sr. William was baptized in Fond du Lac and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church, Rosendale. He moved from Fond du Lac to Rosendale in 1932.William married Doris Rothenbach in 1944. She preceded him in death in 1958. He married Violet E Meyer on April 28, 1961.He farmed in the Rosendale area and was employed by Koehler Lumber for 15 years. He owned and operated the Rosendale Feed Mill for 20 years. After retiring, he worked at Rosendale F.S. Feed Mill and later worked at Rolling Meadows Golf Course as a groundskeeper. He enjoyed league golf at Far Vue of Oshkosh and Rolling Meadows of Fond du Lac.William was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Rosendale.He is survived by his wife, Violet; three daughters: Angela (Russell) Robbins, Victoria (Donald) Huth, and Melody (Duane) Konen; six grandchildren: Marie (Dennis) Scannell, Brian Huth, Karla (Andy) Wagner, Dawn (Brian) Hanke, David Konen, Denise (Glen) Diggs; four step-grandchildren: Cory, Cody, Santanna and Samantha Robbins; seven great-grandchildren: Danielle Kemnitz, Cody Scannell, Zander Scannell, Kennan, Alyson, Aiden, Nathan Huth; one step-great-grandchild, Camron Robbins; a special friend, Lisa Lingafelt; special families: Tim and Pam Lesnick and Rodney and Sara Lesnick; and special and loveable pets: Brandy and Bri.He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Kohls, and a grandson, Christopher Kohls.According to William's wishes, a private funeral service will be held at Rosendale Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name.Do not stand at my grave and weep.I am not there, I do not sleep.I am a thousand winds that blow,I am the diamond glints on snow;I am the sunlight on ripened grain,I am the gentle autumn rain.When you awake in the morning’s hush,I am the swift upflinging rush of quiet birds in circling flight,I am the soft star-shine at night.Do not stand there at my grave and cryI am not there.
