David H. Kemnitz

David Howard Kemnitz from Eldorado, WI was born May 7, 1937. David, known to all as Dave, was a great man who touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on his family, friends, church, and community. Dave departed this world on August 31, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories. Born into a loving family of eleven children, Dave was a remarkable individual. He was a beacon of strength and kindness, a true embodiment of values that define a wonderful father. Throughout his life, Dave’s unwavering commitment to his family and church brought joy and stability to their lives. Dave’s personal life was fulfilling. He was blessed with a loving marriage that spanned over two decades to his beloved late wife, Beth Mulder Winterhack Kemnitz, who preceded him in death. Together, they weathered life’s storms and celebrated its joys, setting an example of enduring love for all who knew them. Dave retired from Mercury Marine, after approximately 20 fulfilling years of service. In his retirement, Dave discovered a deep passion for woodworking. An avid wood crafter, he poured his heart and creativity into crafting exquisite dollhouses, splendid jewelry and toy boxes, and a myriad of other beautiful creations. His craftsmanship was a testament to his dedication and attention to detail. Notably, many of these meticulously crafted items found their way into the hands of his grandchildren, becoming cherished heirlooms that may be passed down for generations. Additionally, Dave’s generosity extended beyond his family, as he also donated several of his creations to local charities, contributing to the betterment of the community he holds dear. Dave’s giving spirit extended beyond his family and crafts. For approximately 10 years, he generously volunteered his time to maintain the North Eldorado Cemetery. His selflessness and commitment to preserving a place of remembrance reflected his innate kindness and his desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Dave’s legacy lives on through his children: Jerry, Aaron, Kristine, and Ronald Kemnitz (fiancée Kirsten Quam), whom he guided and supported throughout their lives. He also embraced an extended family, including Ronda (Darrell) Dretske, Mike (Heidi) Winterhack, and Rick (Jenn) Winterhack, who were touched by his love. Dave’s remaining siblings include: Mary Kaiser, Gary (Faye) Kemnitz, Alice (Jeff) Wittchow, Kaye Albrecht; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-in-law, Bill Freiberg, Nancy Kemnitz, Carol Kemnitz, Fred Mattheis, and Sandy Kemnitz as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. One of Dave’s greatest sources of pride and joy was his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather. His numerous grandchildren were the light of his life, and he loved them with a gusto that knew no bounds. The love and laughter they shared with their beloved “Grandpa Dave” will forever be etched in their hearts. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, wife (Beth), his brothers, Louie (Lucille) Kemnitz, Chester “Jim” Kemnitz, Steve Kemnitz, Tom Kemnitz; and his sisters, JoAnn Frieberg and Sally Mattheis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill Kaiser, and Reine Albrecht. Dave’s memory will be cherished by all those who were fortunate to know him. His legacy of love, dedication, and compassion will continue to inspire generations to come. As we mourn his passing, let us celebrate the wonderful life he lived and the positive impact he had on everyone around him. VISITATION AND SERVICE: Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church, 1010 Adams Ave., North Fond du Lac. A funeral service will follow the visitation on Saturday at 11:00 am at the church. The cremation has already occurred, and the internment is scheduled for a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Dave’s name to the SSM Health Cancer Center in Fond du Lac or SSM Health Hospice Home of Hope, as a tribute to his spirit of giving and kindness. May the memories of Dave’s love and the warmth of his presence comfort us during this difficult time. He will be forever missed and forever remembered.
