October 13, 1944 - March 13, 2022
Earl Francis Ziemann, 77, of Fond du Lac, WI, passed away March 13, 2022 after suffering complications from a stroke. Earl was born October 13, 1944 to Gilbert and Margaret Ziemann of Milwaukee Wisconsin. He was married twice, the first marriage to Judith “Judi” Drees of Milwaukee in 1962 and the second to Kathleen “Kathy” Geis of Fond du Lac in 1981. He and Judi had two sons, Anthony “Tony” Ziemann, Earl “E.J.” Ziemann and a daughter Kellie (Ziemann) Keller. At a young age he began working in the car business as a mechanic and quickly moved into sales, eventually rising to the position of General Manager at dealerships in Wisconsin. He moved to California with Kathy in the early 1980s and went on to successfully run several dealerships in Southern California over his career. He and Kathy enjoyed going on cruises and enjoyed attending Angels baseball games in Anaheim, California. Although he really enjoyed Angels baseball, he was a true fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed collecting memorabilia, especially anything associated with Brett Favre. Earl and Kathy moved back to Fond du Lac in 2003 to be closer to Kathy’s children and grandchildren. Earl instilled in his children a sense of strength and while he seemed to be a very tough man on the exterior, he was actually a very soft-hearted person who cared deeply for those around him. He was an avid competitive bowler from his youth until into his 70s. Two of his proudest bowling accomplishments were his appearance on the very popular WTMJ Channel 4 bowling program “Bowling with the Champs” in Milwaukee, and his league championship while bowling with his son E.J. in California. He bowled numerous 300 games, had an 800 series during his bowling career, and consistently averaged over 200 no matter where he bowled. His other sporting love was golf. He became a very good golfer and loved to play with his friend Steve Mathews as often as possible. He lowered his handicap to below 9 without ever having a single golf lesson. He is survived by his first wife Judi, his sons Tony (Tracy) Ziemann of Fullerton, CA and E.J. (Tina) Ziemann of Huntington Beach, CA, his son-in-law John Keller of Huntington Beach, CA; his stepsons Michael (Lisa) Emerich, Mark Emerich, both of Fond du Lac, WI, Daniel Emerich of Long Beach, CA, and Matthew (Sharon) Emerich of Appleton, WI; nine grandchildren: Tara (Chris) Hodgson, Ashly (Anthony) Robinson, Tyler (Rose) Ziemann, Myranda (Jordan) Tenace, Marin Keller, Cody Emerich, Kelsey Emerich, Blake Emerich and Kiana Emerich; nine great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog Teddy. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Allen and Douglas, his sister Faith, his wife Kathy, and his daughter Kellie. The family will hold a private celebration of life.
