Frances M. Hamilton

June 25, 1926 - December 6, 2021

Frances M. Hamilton, 95, of Fond du Lac, slipped away quietly into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 6, 2021. She was a resident of St. Francis Home. Fran was born June 25, 1926, in Milwaukee, the first of eleven children to Frank and Cecelia (Petersen) Barton. Fran met Donald L Hamilton at the Great Lakes Naval Base, Illinois, and they married on December 14, 1946. Together they had three children, Cheryl G. Hamilton, Gary L. Hamilton, and Terry L. Hamilton. While living in Texas, Fran worked in banking. After moving back to Wisconsin, she worked at the Fond du Lac Clinic, and then a move to California found her working for Herff Jones Yearbook Co., and starting their own business. A final move brought her back to Fond du Lac and retirement. Fran had a diverse and eclectic eye in all of her interests. She was a gifted and creative cook and baker, perfecting the family Danish Rye Bread recipe. She revered family and enjoyed gatherings and was always there for love and support. She led by example of strong faith, resolve, resilience, and a sense of humor. Humble and modest by nature, she was the family historian, connected to everyone, the go-to person for family pictures and information, the original “Facebook”. She was a devoted member of Church of our Savior and enjoyed serving and fellowship. Fran is survived by her son, Terry L Hamilton of Fond du Lac; three brothers, Clair Barton and Larry Barton both of Fond du Lac and Lewellyn Barton of MI; three sisters, Loretta Young of WA, Susanne Aldrich of IN and Lanette Bruflat of AR, many loving and devoted nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Fran was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Gary L Hamilton in 1968; her husband, Donald L Hamilton in 1989; her daughter, Cheryl G. Hamilton in 2019; two sisters, Marjorie Perry and Karen Goldapske and two brothers, Russell Barton and Wayne Barton. Special love and gratitude to her niece, Patti Shippee, for her love and dedication. Her family would also like to thank the staff at the St. Francis Home for their compassionate and attentive care. SERVICE: Graveside inurnment will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2021, “on their Anniversary” at Ledgeview Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on her birthday, June 25, 2022.
