Kathleen M. Halfmann

October 18, 1942 - August 18, 2020

Kathleen M. Halfmann, 77, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at St. Francis Home. She was born on October 18, 1942, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of James and Margaret A. Scharfenberger Parker. On April 23, 1966, she married David P. Halfmann, at St. Mary's Church in Fond du Lac. Kathleen followed her passion and attended beauty school and was a cosmetologist at Hills Beauty Salon and JC Penny's Salon for over 40 years. The lights of her life were her two granddaughters, Meg and Kate. There was never an event missed that they were in, and she would beam with pride in their presence. When the evilness of Huntington's Disease stole her independence, she was comforted by the love of her dog, Jax. Ten years ago, this October, was the first time Huntington's Disease became a part of our vocabulary. Since that day, we vowed not to let it slow her down. It wasn't always pretty, but she fought so very hard to be a survivor and not become another statistic. We have never been so proud to call her our mother, our grandmother and wife. She is survived by her husband, David Halfmann of Fond du Lac, her daughter, Melissa (Paul) Mengert of Fond du Lac, her granddaughters: Meg Mengert of Madison and Kate Mengert of Fond du Lac; her sisters-in-law: Marlene Parker and Bonnie (Ron) Wachendorf all of Fond du Lac; brothers-in-law: Robert (Jean) Halfmann, Tom (Cathy) Halfmann and Dennis Halfmann, all of Fond du Lac; nieces: Lori Paulin of Texas and Julie (Jay) Birschbach of Neenah, and many other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law, William and Esther Halfmann, and her brothers: Wayne Parker, Chuck Parker, and Rodney Parker. Special thanks to Renae Patrick DNP, St. Francis Home and Hospice, for their amazing care and patience. Especially her last new friend, Priscilla, who was able to be there when we couldn't. VISITATION: Friends may call from 3:00 - 6:00 PM on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Kurki Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac. We kindly ask that all who attend wear a mask, in accordance with the government mandate. SERVICE: Memorial services will take place at 6:00 PM on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Kurki Funeral Chapel, with Chaplain Karen Kraus officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Huntington’s Disease Society of America, www.hdsa.org Kurki Funeral Chapel & Crematory is serving the family, www.kurkifuneralchapel.com. 920-921-4420.
