Susan J. Letourneau
October 7, 1944 - February 22, 2022
Susan “Suzy” Peterson Letourneau passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at her home. A permanent resident of Fond du Lac, she was born on October 7, 1944, to Carlton and Marin Jean Wolff. She married William “Bill” Peterson on June 21, 1967, and they remained lifelong friends. On December 30, 2004, she married John Letourneau. Suzy was active in many organizations, serving as President of Ladies Elks and various offices for the Fond du Lac Heritage Club. An avid quilter, she was a member of the Sunset Fiber Arts Guild. Her first encounter with a sewing machine was not pretty, but she soon become a master stitcher. She owned and operated Hunca Munca Dollhouse, located on North Park Ave. She worked at Fond du Lac Quilting for several years, being instrumental in planning the annual quilt show. It was when she worked for Wool & Needle a few years later that her designs and wonderful ability turned a plain display into an appealing delight. Together with her sister, she volunteered at Brothertown Indian Nation, helping to set up, design, and decorate their museum and Native American Christmas tree. Suzy enjoyed spending time with those she loved, gardening in her outdoor sanctuary, having her family over to watch boxing matches, and creating memories with her children and grandchildren. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, Suzy was always laughing and smiling, and would brighten up everyone’s day. Her big heart was known to all; she gave us all a gift we know we can never repay. To know her was to love her. Suzy is survived by her husband John; children Kari (Wayne) Baker of Fond du Lac, Kim (Tyrone) Peterson Wisdom of Fond du Lac, and Kyle (Missy) Peterson of Madison; grandchildren Breanna (Josh) Tyner, Tiffany Baker, Teisha Baker, Chenise Peterson, Dewey Peterson, Dempsey Peterson, and Chloe Wisdom Peterson; great grandchildren Malakai, Elijah, Wynn, and Ka’reem; beloved sister, Marleen Koenigs, whom she called “Sissy”; nephews Craig (Marion) Koenigs and Brett Koenigs, and brother-in-law Richard Koenigs. She also leaves behind special friend Kathy Geis, her Stitch & B*tch sisters, Laura Kroff, Sally Powers-Albertz, and Jayne Hamberg, and many other lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, niece Tami Koenigs, special friend Bill Peterson, and Stitch & B*tch sister Cindy McDermott.
