Charles A. Zwerg

Charles “Chuck” A. Zwerg, died on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. He was born on November 13, 1936, in Appleton, the eldest son of Dr. Alvin W. Zwerg DDS and Mary R. Zwerg. He married Lynne L. Harrmann, of Appleton in 1957, and was blessed to be the father of three amazing children: Charles Jr. (Carol) Falmouth, VA, Carl (Sheryl) Appleton, WI, and Lisa (Steven) Schwartz, Wauwatosa, WI. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Ariel Zwerg, Raleigh, NC, Erik (special friend, Amanda) Zwerg, Oakridge, TN, Dr. Rebecca (Spencer) Fix, Baltimore, MD, Jaclyn (Eric) June, Oshkosh, WI, Joshua (partner Jacob) Schwartz, Mt. Pleasant, WI, and Ethan (special friend, Molly) Zwerg, Aurora, CO. There are also four great-grandsons: Chaz, Carsan, and Cooper Zwerg and Hudson Fix. Chuck is survived by his brother Rev. James (Caroline) Tucson, AZ; and two nephews: James and John. Chuck was often heard to say, “I’ve been so blessed all my life” …and it was true. Lynne, his wife of 67 years always offered unwavering love, support, advice and understanding to the challenges life brings. Another special blessing has been all the relatives, friends, co-workers, and neighbors who have enriched our lives and continue to be appreciated and cherished. All his adult life, Chuck’s primary interest and dedication was to his family. We took trips all over the United States and weekend and vacation weeks at the family cottage on Lake Lucerne or at our home on the east shore of Lake Winnebago. Chuck made it a priority not to bring work from his job home on weekends…that was sacred “family” time. Although an avid reader, fishing was his favorite hobby, especially catching walleyed pike, perch, and bass. Chuck graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a BS and Masters Degree in Industrial Relations. His working career included the Wisconsin Telephone Co., A.O. Smith, Giddings & Lewis, Aqua-Chem, and Executive Agenda. Serving as Corporate Vice-President of Human Resources for much of his working career, he was asked to serve many organizations in a leadership role. He served as Co-Chairman for many years on the City of Fond du Lac Police and Fire Commission and Chairman of the Board of St. Agnes Hospital, the National Human Resources Committees of the U.S. Machine Tool Manufactures, the National Association of Manufacturers, and the National Boiler Manufactures. He also was active in lay leadership roles at Plymouth and Pilgrim UCC Churches, the Pensacola Community Beach Church, United Way, and the Fond du Lac Area Human Resources Association. VISITATION: The family will greet friends and relatives from 9:30 – 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Pilgrim UCC, 535 Stow Street, Fond du Lac. SERVICE: Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Pilgrim UCC, with Rev. Rob Van Ess officiating. Private family inurnment will take place at Rienzi Mausoleum. Donations in Chuck’s name appreciated to Pilgrim UCC or Pensacola Community Beach Church.
