Edward H. Yngsdal

Edward H. Yngsdal, age 96, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023, at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac, WI. Ed was born on Sept. 16, 1926 to William Sr. and Martha Yngsdal near Prairie du Sac, where he grew up helping his father and brothers maintain the local golf course. He served his country in WWII. After returning home he found the love of his life, his wife, Marion. They spent the early years of their marriage in Prairie du Sac and then moved to Fond du Lac. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He had a long career working for the Wisconsin Power & Light Company. Then in retirement enjoyed crafting woodworking projects and making cleaver outdoor decorations, and he was always up for a backyard game of croquet. He also shared his fix-it skills by volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul and did so well into his 80's. Ed and Marion enjoyed many wonderful years of camping in the Wisconsin State Parks and always had wonderful summer gardens. He was a member at Salem United Methodist Church for 57 years, where he devoted countless hours making pies for the Annual Fall Harvest Festival. He took great pride in his Norwegian heritage and hosted many lutefisk dinners. Family was always most important to him and was the center of his entire life. He is survived by his wife and their 3 children: Karen (Damian) Dischler, Sandra (Daniel) Lichtenwald, David (JoAnn) Yngsdal. He is further survived by brothers Robert (Elaine) and Arthur (Donna) Yngsdal. Brother & Sisters-in-law: Ruby Alwin, Lyla Sprecher, and Keith Sprecher. He had 8 grandchildren: Meredith (Paul) Pucci, Rebecca (Sam) Reierson, Jeffrey (Justine Hollander) Dischler, Matthew (Sarah) Lichtenwald, Gregory (Ashley) Dischler, Christina (Edward) Wagner, Madison & Christian Yngsdal. Also 11 greatgrandchildren: Jackson, Samuel & Anna Pucci, Eden Kuloszewski, Loen Reierson, Grayson Dischler, Nora Dischler, Isaac & Addie Lichtenwald, William & Eleanor Wagner. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers & sisters: Beatrice (Warren) Moungey, Gladys (Gordon) Hathaway, William Jr. (Leoma) Yngsdal, Luella (Ray) Nichols, Willard (Delores) Yngsdal, & Myrtle Fieldhouse. Brothers & Sisters-in-law: Leslie (Lilah) Sprecher, Lyle (Evelyn) Sprecher, Halsey Sprecher, Vilas (Ruth) Sprecher, Elizabeth (Philip) Savides, Neil Alwin, Nancy Sprecher, & Gretchen Sprecher. VISITATION: The family will greet friends from 9:30 – 10:30 AM, on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Salem United Methodist Church, 120 Sheboygan Street, Fond du Lac. SERVICE: Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Salem United Methodist Church. The family wishes to thank the wonderful caring staff at the Hospice Home of Hope.
