Edythe Elaine Ollerman

Edythe Elaine Ollerman, 87, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died Friday, August 5, 2011, at Countryside Manor, Sheboygan.She was born on March 11, 1924, in Nordegg, Alberta, Canada, a daughter of the late Bert Emerson and Anna Estelle McGinnis Hereford, and she always retained her Canadian citizenship.While she was bowling with some friends, she met a young U.S. Army Air Corps G.I., Melvin R. Ollerman. After being courted, she and Mel were married on August 31, 1946, at the Central Lutheran Church in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and the couple moved to Mel’s hometown, Fond du Lac.In 1952, Edythe started working for Gilmore Liquor Mart as a clerk and continued working there for 51 years until she retired in 2003. Many of her customers will remember her for giving penny candy to the kids as they came in with their parents.She enjoyed bowling in a couple’s league, playing cards and cribbage, fishing, watching baseball and hockey, and she was a past member of Broken Cinch Riding Club.She is survived by two daughters: June (Richard) Bahr of Fond du Lac, and Joy (Stephen) Fisher of Plymouth; five grandchildren: Shelly (Andrew) Beaver of Waukesha, Melissa Bahr of Oshkosh, Kaylie, Cody, and Chloe Fisher, all of Plymouth; three great-grandsons: Ethan Stuart of Oshkosh, and twins, Zachary and Tyler Beaver of Waukesha, who affectionately referred to her as Great E because she was. She is further survived by a dear sister-in-law, Mrs. James Hereford of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta; and her brother-in-law and his wife, Robert and Charlene Ollerman of Fond du Lac. Many nieces and nephews in the Fond du Lac area and Canada will also miss her.She was preceded in death by her husband on January 16, 1984; an infant son; and her five siblings: Adalbert, Grace, Wilma, Winston, and Jim, all of Canada. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, 20 WI American Drive, Fond du Lac, with Rev. David L. Pavesic officiating. Burial will be in Estabrooks Cemetery. The visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, and on Wednesday at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.Edythe always had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed meeting new people and having the opportunity to brag about her family to them. She loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s various activities. She was happiest when her whole family was gathered altogether around her. Ice cream, fudge, and almost anything sweet always brought a smile to her face.The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staffs at Community Care, Sheboygan, Sharon Richardson Hospice, Countryside Manor, and Tender Hearts Senior Care.
