Hubert G. Hodorff

Hubert G. Hodorff, 74, of W7729 Chelen Ridge, Van Dyne, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at home following a yearlong battle with cancer.He was born on March 13, 1934, in the Town of Osceola, a son of John S. and Esther S. (nee Dennert) Hodorff.He served with the United States Army from 1957 - 1959.On July 11, 1959, he married Hazel J. Barfknecht and together they celebrated 49 years of marriage.He worked for 42 years as a truck driver for Henry Timblin. Hubert was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Blizzard Buzzards Snowmobile Club, and several bowling leagues. He loved traveling, having been to all 50 states and Alaska twice. He is survived by his wife, Hazel; two children: Tracy (Inderpreet) Grover of Flowood, Mississippi, and Troy Hodorff of Fond du Lac; three grandchildren: Ryan (Jodi) Thorpe of Fond du Lac, Danielle Hodorff (special friend Gary Toddish), and Josh Hodorff; and great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Thorpe of Fond du Lac; two brothers: Harold (Arlene) Hodorff of Eden, and John Hodorff of Winston Salem, North Carolina; three sisters: Mildred Guell, Bernice Miller, and Ruth Burmeister, all of Fond du Lac. He is further survived by his wife’s three brothers and four sisters: Allen Barfknecht of Fond du Lac, Harold (Zoe) Barfknecht of Mt. Calvary, John (Joyce) Barfknecht of St. Peter; Edna Wigger of Columbia, Missouri, Janet (Eugene) Willis of Fond du Lac, Elaine (David) Rubringer of Genesee Depot, Louise (Jim) Keifenheim of Fond du Lac; numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Earl (Elaine) Hodorff and Merlin (Florence) Hodorff; a sister, Lydia (Angelo) Germanotta; three brothers-in-law: Harley Guell, Claude Miller, and Lester Burmeister; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Hodorff. He is further preceded in death by his wife’s sister, Maysel Springer, his wife’s brother, Donald Barfknecht, his wife’s sister-in-law, Marianne Barfknecht, and his wife’s brother-in-law, John Wigger.The visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, and on Friday at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008, at Covenant United Methodist Church, 20 N. Marr Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Michael Morning officiating. Entombment will follow at Ledgeview Memorial Park Mausoleum with military rites conducted by the American Legion Trier- Puddy Post 75 of Fond du Lac.Memorials may be directed to the Wisconsin Cancer Center, 480 East Division Street, Fond du Lac.The family wishes to thank relatives and friends for their visits and gifts and to the wonderful neighbors for their many, many acts of kindness.
