Judy M. Flanders

Judy M. Flanders, 82, of Fond du Lac, took the hand of her Heavenly Father, on Saturday August 31, 2024 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Robert Bender and Helen Bender McCue. She was born on October 9, 1941. On June 6, 1959 she married Daniel C. Flanders Sr. in Fond du Lac. They spent 59 years married before Dan's passing in 2018. Judy worked part-time in retail, at restaurants, and as a vet tech, but more importantly she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed taking care of her family, home, and yard. She welcomed many of her children’s friends into her home and treated them like family. She also enjoyed sewing and sewed many of her children’s clothes when they were young. Judy also took pride in volunteering for the church, especially for Pastor Douglas Hedman, where she led many of her grandchildren through communion and confirmation. She continued her faith in God with Bible studies and prayer groups in her home. Judy is survived by her children: Jeanne (Russel) Schneider of Mount Calvary, WI; Sue (Donny) Woorster of Duluth, MN; Dan (Sandy) Flanders Jr. of Princeton, WI; Deb (Dennis) Knight of Beaver Dam, WI; Dawn Flanders of Fond du Lac, WI, and Rachael (David) Bertram of Fond du Lac, WI; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers Bob (Dolores) Bender and James Bender; many nieces and nephews; and her friend of 70 years, Patty Lietz. Judy was proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, grandchildren Rhonda Crook and Joseph Flanders, brother Richard Bender, and sister-in-law Sandra Bender We would like to thank SSM Cancer Center & staff especially Dr. Jones and Dr. Vander Kooy along with SSM Health at Home Hospice Care. A special thanks to her wonderful neighbors Cindy and Troy Riggs, Dean and Billie Tighe, Diane and Pat Braun, Dale and Butch Schaeve, Randy Veeser, and Steve Cahee for all their kindness over the years. Graveside inurnment will be held at 10:00 AM at Estabrooks Cemetery on Saturday, September 14, 2024, with Rev. Douglas V. Hedman officiating. A Celebration of Life will be from 12:00 – 3:00 PM at Elmwood Cabin, W3525 County Road Q, Fond du Lac, WI 54937.
