Lee W. Scott

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7) Lee William Scott, 89, was welcomed home into the loving arms of Jesus in the early morning of July 11, 2026. The son of Merle and Marjorie Scott, Lee grew up in Winneconne, WI. After graduating from Winneconne High School, he joined the Marines. Though serving only three years, it remained a proud part of his life. Following discharge from the service he continued his education at UW Oshkosh, obtaining a degree in economics. Most of his working career was spent in insurance claims adjusting, which allowed him to drive and see “where this road goes”, meeting and talking to many new friends. In 1978, he married Barb. They were blessed to make memories during their 47 years together; boating, biking, exploring new bike trails and B&B’s, travelling the country. In later years they enjoyed sitting on the deck or porch, sipping a cup of coffee (or glass of wine). Lee’s favorite times were any he could spend with family. He was fiercely proud of sons Erik (Angela), Trent, and daughter, Marjorie (Bill) Bentz. Though limited in mobility in his later years his interests in anything his grandchildren (and great-grandchildren) were doing never waned. Lee was always ready to help others and served in many organizations. He was a long-time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, serving on various committees. He was past president of the Evening Optimists and past commodore of the Fond du Lac Yacht Club. He was a voracious reader and an accomplished wine maker. Many family and friends were fortunate to be the grateful recipients of the “fruits of his labor.” Lee faced numerous health challenges in his life with a quiet, stoic attitude. “Just another bump in the road,” was his mantra. His later years were quite “bumpy”, but he never complained and continued to greet everyone he encountered with his signature smile. His faith in Jesus, his Savior, was evident as he lived his last days. Those left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife and children are grandchildren: Kenneth Scott, Jessica (Ben) Scattergood (Judah, Harper, James), Adam (Joy) Scott, Anais and Violette Scott, Jacob and Oliver Bentz. Also sure to miss him is his “good pup” Autumn. He is further survived by sister Patricia Sasse, brother-in-law Ron Golec and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were brothers-in-law: Thomas Holland and George Sasse, and sister-in-law Ann Golec. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.” Romans 1:16, Lee’s confirmation verse. Our hearts are comforted with the promise of reuniting in heaven. We are grateful for the many visits made, and spiritual comfort given these past years from Pastor Borgwardt and Rathje. The family would also like to extend our most sincere thanks to the entire staff at Hospice Home of Hope for your kind and tender care of Lee, and loving support of us all. A special thanks to dear nurse Katie. You all became family and we will be grateful forever. VISITATION: Family will greet friends and relatives from 9:00 – 11:00 AM on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 606 Forest Avenue, Fond du Lac. SERVICE: Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Rev. James Borgwardt officiating. Memorials in Lee’s name many be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Hospice Home of Hope. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
