Lowell D. Schumacher

Lowell D. Schumacher, 87, formerly of Rosendale, died on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Eden Meadows Rehab, in Oshkosh. He was born on April 2, 1936, in the Town of Eldorado, the son of Herbert H. and Myrtle Patt Schumacher. He was a graduate of Rosendale Union High School. On June 25, 1960, he married Alice J. Paul, at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on November 18, 2023. Lowell spent 45 years working in the leather tanning business, starting at Fred Rueping Leather Co. in Fond du Lac, W.B. Place & Co. in Hartford, and he retired from A.L. Gebhardt & Co. in Milwaukee. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Rosendale, where he served as a treasurer on the Building Committee. Lowell played on the church dartball team. He was a member of Rosendale Lions Club. At one point, while living in Hartford, Lowell served on the city council. He was an umpire, played softball and coached hard ball. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching sports, dancing, gardening and keeping a manicured lawn, mixing a good old fashioned, and most of all spending his time with family. He is survived by his sons: Randall J. Schumacher of Fond du Lac and Bryant L. (Kelli Kay) Schumacher of Fremont; his five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is further survived by his two sisters: Dorothy Ellner of Pelican Lake and Marlene Hintz of Van Dyne; sister and brothers-in-law: Mary (Jim) Schabel of Leroy, Darrell (Kazue) Paul of Okinawa, Japan, and Euguene Schumacher of Van Dyne, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter Connie R., five brothers: Chester, Clarence, Arlie, Jerry and Alvin, his sister Elaine Albrecht, and brothers and sisters-in-law. VISITATION: The family will greet friends and relatives from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church, 124 South Main Street, Rosendale, WI. SERVICE: Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church Rosendale, with Rev. Jonathan Stansfield officiating. Burial to follow at Rosendale Cemetery. A memorial is being established.
