Nancy J. Anderson

Nancy J. Anderson, 88, of Neenah, died on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center. She was born on June 14, 1935, in Appleton, the daughter of Clarence A. and Sophia M. Teske NaGreen. She was a graduate of Appleton West High School, Class of 1953. On June 14, 1954, she married Duane “Buzz” Nelson, in Neenah. Together, they raised four wonderful children, while residing in Neenah. She loved her family and was a dedicated homemaker. When her children were grown, she then became a Certified Nurse’s Assistant, Caregiver and Cook, and worked for various nursing homes and health centers in the area. In 1989, she then married Vince J. Anderson, in Fond du Lac, where they resided until he preceded her in death. Nancy and Vince were very active in their community, and Pilgrim United Church of Christ. They also enjoyed spending some time in Florida during the winter months. After his death, Nancy returned to Neenah, and resided at The Highlands at Mahler Park, where she met so many great people and shared many years of friendship there. She was a woman of strong faith who enjoyed and was devoted to her Bible Classes and Bible Study groups. Nancy enjoyed sewing and at the early age of 14, she had saved enough money to buy her first Pfaff sewing machine. This soon became her passion, and she would often use her talent to help others. She was a very gifted seamstress, doing alterations for bridal shops and eventually making both of her daughters’ wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses. It soon became a full-time venture for her, working out of her home. Nancy especially cherished her long-time friendship with Mary Benson. She always looked forward to their every Wednesday phone conversations. She is survived by two children: Diana Corbin “Dewey”, Paul Nelson “Hippie”; her daughter-in-law Laura Nelson; grandchildren: Justin Brietzke, Jill Wilke, Tyler Corbin, Matthew (Alex) Nelson, and Sara Nelson; 8 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; a sister: Judy Hahn; and many nieces and nephews. Nancy is also blessed and survived by Vince’s family, whom she loved as her own: stepdaughters Judy (Gail) Pierson, Laurel Anderson, Barbara (Mike) Chase, Carla Anderson (Kevin Spitler), step-grandsons Jay (Nikki) Schettle, Cole (Alexis) Spitler, step-granddaughters Jenne Miranda Rodrigues (Iran), Terra Wood-Taylor, Ellen (John) Greene. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Vince; daughter Susan Nelson, her son David Nelson; sister and brother-in-law Beverly and James Kohl; brother-in-law Clifford Hahn; step-grandson Ryan Schettle; and Marjol Arend (Hippie’s significant other). Our family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center nursing and Hospice staff for their kind and compassionate care provided to Nancy. Also, a special “Thank You” to her care givers Connie and Ashley. WE LOVE YOU, MOM, AND WE WILL MISS YOU. DON’T WORRY, WE WILL ALL BE OK. YOU CAN REST IN PEACE NOW. SERVICE: A combined Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on: Saturday, October 21, 2023, 11:00 AM – 2:00PM, The Dome Bar and Grill, 1338 South Commercial Street Neenah, WI 54956. Per Nancy’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts will go to the Charis Bible College Building Fund.
