Reinhold Grams

Reinhold “Reiny” Grams, 95, was called to tend the Lord’s Heavenly farm on Saturday, February 17, 2007.He was born January 26, 1912, a son of Gottlieb and Augusta Gitzel Grams in Berlin, Wi.On March 20, 1937 Reinhold married Eileen E. Cronin in Oshkosh. Plans were in place to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary next month. The couple farmed their entired married life, the last 61 years being in the Town of Empire. Reinhold attended Lighthouse Christian Church. Prior to that, he served on the Assembly of God church Board for 20 years.He was a 4-H Leader for 40 years, served on the Agriland Co-operative Board of Directors for 30 years, was a member of the Fond du Lac County Pork Producers and was a Town of Empire Supervisor for 30 years. Reiny also served on the Wisconsin Pork Producers Board of Directors; He was the original chairman of the USDA watershed committee; and was on the Fourth Street School board for 20 years. Reiny exhibited purebred spotted hogs from the 1950’s to 1995. His hogs won many championships at the local, state and national levels.Reinhold is survived by his wife, Eileen; three sons and one daughter: Robert J. (Dawn) Grams, Phoenix, Az., Carol A. Grams, Rancho Santa Margarita, Ca., David S. (Mary) Grams, Grafton, Wi., and Steven A. (Theresa) Grams, Dane, Wi.; Twelve grandchildren: Roxy (John) Wheat, Tammy Reimers, Todd (Dawn) Grams, Troy Grams, Jason Grams, Peter, Joseph, Jacob, Timothy and Jonathon Grams, together with Brooke and Hunter Grams; seven great-grandchildren: April, Tiffany, Doug, Kahla, Ashley, Amanda and Alisabeth; and two great-great granddaughters, Allysa and Jasmine; three sisters: Clara Liebelt, Tuscon, Az., Ida Hintz, North Fond du Lac, Helen Bonek, Vancouver, Wa; five brothers: the Rev. Charles Grams, Belvidere, Il., Arthur (Betty) Grams, Loves Park, Il., the Rev. Thomas (Alma) Grams, Bellingham, Wa., the Rev. Herman (Elaine) Grams, Lodi, Ca., and the Rev. Monroe (Clementia) Grams, Pembrook Pines, Fl.; and two sisters-in-law, Lucia Grams and Marian Grams.He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Kay Grams, on August 2, 1975; three brothers; the Rev. William Grams together with his first wife Martha, the Rev. Ralph (Flora) Grams and Paul Grams; three brothers-in-law: Andrew Liebelt, Leonard Hintz and Oscar Bonek; and two sisters-in-law, Bertha Grams and Betty Jane Grams.The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at Lighthouse Christian Church with the Reverends Brent Balken and Richard Balken officiating. Burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park.Visitation for Reinhold will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, February 20, at Mach Funeral Chapel, and again on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church.Dad (Grandpa) loved to talk about being born in the horse and buggy days and living to the space age. He dedicated his life to serving the Lord and guiding his family. His warm embrace, sense of humor, stories and love for family will be deeply missed.
