William H. Luckey

William H. Luckey, 94, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on July 8, 1931, in Iowa, son of Harry B. Luckey and Edna H. Luckey. In 1956, Bill married Mary E. Cahill in Iowa, having three children and were married for 65 years. He was very fortunate to have Mary as his wife for 65 years. She was always there for love and support. During his working career William was employed by many large firms specializing in the manufacturing of internal combustion engines, retiring from Mercury Marine in 1994. During this time span he was a member of the society of Manufacturing Engineers and Society of Robotic Engineers. Bill was also involved as a member of National and International Bench Rest Association with long range target shooting. As a member of the Van Dyne Sportsman Club, entering into scheduled target matches of various State or National meets with the clubs’ rifle team. This team scored high placements for the club. Bill was elected for two terms on the Board of Directors during this time. In other activities Bill and brother Bob were very active in competition Go Kart Racing throughout the Mid-West section of the country. Fielding excellent equipment, they won more than their fair share of races, including factory racing teams. He enjoyed his computer friends, dining out, sightseeing of various states, special TV programs and chatting with friends. Mary, Bill and Sue showed their 3 Staffordshire Bull Terriers at American Kennel Club Shows throughout the Midwest Section of the Nation winning their Championship for breed standard as well as two degrees in Obedient trials. Bills dog Tuffy won the Top Dog Award with National Ranking Placement. Bill is survived by children: Steve (Mary) of Cape Coral, Florida, Sam of Savoy, Texas, Sue of Fond du Lac and extended family member Debbie Luckey and her husband Monte Hetrick of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Further survived by granddaughter Bobbi Sue Griepentrog of Spencer, WI. William is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary and brother Robert of Iowa. To my friend’s farewell. I thank you for our relationship and perhaps we shall meet again. Also, a special thank you to those who stepped in to help in time of specific activities. Cremation has taken place with private family services at Estabrook Cemetery.
